What is solar energy?

Solar electricity is the conversion of sunlight or photons into electricity. This is done using special materials known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, which were first developed in 1954 by Bell Laboratories for use by NASA.

How does solar power work?

Electricity is produced by sunlight striking the surface of multiple photovoltaic (PV)  panels. The electricity produced is in DC, much like your car battery. That DC power must be converted to AC which is the form sent by the electric company to your home or business. Once your solar system converts this DC power to AC power then all or some of your home’s appliances will run off the solar energy.

Why choose Solaris Energy?

Solaris Energy offers the highest quality at an affordable price. Our customers are our family. We provide comprehensive service from evaluation to follow-up and monitoring.

Will solar work for my home or business?

Yes. The two main factors are the amount sunlight your home or commercial building gets throughout the day and the amount of open roof space. We will give you a free evaluation and assessment to give you a customized quote and design.

Is it difficult to switch to solar power?

No. Solaris Energy will switch your home or business over to solar with no changes to your normal activities. We get your system up and running quickly so you can start saving money and using clean energy.

How long will it take to get my new solar system up and running?

This process varies customer to customer as each system is designed to meet specific needs. In our design proposal we will include an estimated installation time.

Do you offer warranties?

Our solar panels come with a twenty-year manufacturer’s performance warranty. The inverters have a five-year warranty.

Do I need a battery back-up system?

The option to install a battery back-up system depends on your energy needs. The battery back up system gives you full independence   from the electric company. If you choose not to have to have a battery back up system for your solar system, you will still be tied into the electric company’s grid system. Meaning your system will run off solar during the day and run off the electric company at night during off peak pricing hours. Both provide cost savings.

Having a battery back-up system will also eliminate the need for noisy generators during black outs.

What happens at night or when it is cloudy?

The power you receive from the sun will be stored so that it will continue to give you power for a period of time during evenings and cloudy weather. However, your system will still produce energy when the weather is cloudy. For a system that is completely off grid (not connected to the electric company’s grid) a battery back up system is recommended for nighttime power.

How much can I save with a solar system?

Just how much you’ll save is specific to you. Every client and every system is unique. If utility rates continue to increase as they have in years past, the average Solaris Energy customer will save thousands of dollars.

How long will my solar system last?

Our solar systems are designed to operate for more than 20 years. The basic PV module has no moving parts and can last more than 30 years. The best way to ensure and extend the life and effectiveness of your solar system is by having it properly installed and well maintained.

What size of a solar system do I need?

Every customer’s home or business is different. The size of the solar system will depend on your energy needs, roof space and financial goals. Solaris Energy will custom design a system that will fit your specific needs and offset as much of utility bill as you desire.
